The XVth Rencontres Raymond Abellio took place in Toulouse

This meeting furthered transdisciplinary exchanges on the theme:

Destiny and Liberty in and from Abellio

The communications presented during the 2018 session of the Rencontres took a large part of their inspiration from the Abellio's philosophical and literary work which transcends the old debate between determinism and liberty.

The principle of universal interdependence, foundation of the "Abellian" philosophy, incites us to see and live any situation as connected in a seamless dynamical network that Abellio calls the "absolute structure". In such a vision the individual's "destiny" is the result of an infinity of infinities of inter-relationships, therefore escaping from any local determinism. Living that interdependence demands from us to integrate all conditionings into a global signification: thus liberty is not material or social but rather spiritual. According to Abellio, fully experiencing the universal interdependence is "promised to any human being", but it may not be attained by all.

During this 2018 session of the Rencontres Abellio the dialectical opposition between individual liberty and global determinism was explored in various areas of life and knowledge, like, for example, the processes of artistic creation juxtaposed to software creation, or the interplay of individual and collective being in the spiritual genealogy of the Occident.
